Facebook initially had 20 games and now has over 70. The fun-sounding feature will kick off with Words With Friends, so instead of merely imagining your opponent's face when you lay down a 100-point word that no one's ever heard of, you'll soon have the fun of seeing their reaction when they realize what you've done. The feature will allow friends to video chat while simultaneously playing a game against each other.

Facebook also revealed a new suite of games set to come to Messenger.

In addition to livestreaming within Instant Games, Facebook will also launch next year a video chat feature for multiplayer games - beginning with Words With Friends - whereby two players can initiate a gaming session with a video call in Messenger.

Facebook also announced that it plans to test a feature that lets users video chat while gaming, as well.

Sonic Jump from SEGA, developed by SEGA HARDlight, will introduce a new, arcade style adventure to Messenger, featuring classic Sonic enemies, power-ups and traps as players challenge friends to see who can jump the farthest.

In addition, Facebook is also launching new games for Messenger next year, including Angry Birds.

Once you click a new camera icon on top of a Messenger game, you can livestream the game you're playing to your Facebook page or profile, with the option to turn on your screen's front camera. Then they can selects their audience and add a short description about the broadcast.

To begin the live-stream, press the "Start Live Video" button and you're off.

With the live streaming feature, Facebook is playing catch up rivals like Twitch, YouTube and Microsoft, all of which today offer their own tools and services for live streaming games. Just like any post the video can be deleted at any time.

Angry Birds will be joining the recently launched Tetris which includes all the old modes fans love, like the marathon mode and the ability to play alongside friends.

"We're so glad that people are embracing the awesome experiences game developers are building for Instant Games", Facebook said in its announcement.

Published by LINE the game will launch in 2018, bringing the most beloved Disney characters to Messenger where players can collect, connect and pop Tsum Tsum based on the popular Disney Tsum Tsum plushies.

More information on the live streaming and new games will be coming in the new year when the app updates.
