Champions League draw: Chelsea face prospect of tough round-of-16 draw

Finished third in the group, CSKA, Celtic, Atletico Madrid and sporting CP will play in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League.

"For now it's time to focus on the Premier League, on the Carabao Cup and FA Cup that we will start in January, and when the Champions League is back in February we will see how we are".

There are set to be some heavyweight ties in the Champions League round of 16 with the seedings for the first knockout round now known.

ManchesterUnited, PSG, Roma and Barcelona will be the seeded teams from Groups A-D, while Liverpool, ManchesterCity, Besiktas and Tottenham are the seeded teams from Groups E-H.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has played down their chances of winning the Champions League this season.

The task is made especially hard for Chelsea.

As such, the Blues will now get a more hard draw in the next round of the competition.

With Premier League clubs struggling, La Liga teams have unquestionably taken a stranglehold of the competition, with the past four winners of the competition all hailing from Spain's top flight - Barcelona lifted the trophy in 2015 while Real Madrid won it in 2014, 2016 and 2017.

And while Tottenham had the best showing in the Champions League group stage of any club, their success domestically has waned, falling to sixth place, four points out the final Champions League berth.

How does the Champions League last 16 draw work?

Roma: Bayern Munich, FC Basel, FC Porto, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk. City faced so little competition they barely even tried in the final match, their first loss of the season on Wednesday against Shakhtar in which City keeper Ederson showed exactly how much his side cared with this display of ineptitude.

Find out why Chelsea supporters could be anxious ahead of Monday's Champions League round of 16 draw...
