Atlanta News Anchor Classily Claps Back At Racist Comments On-Air

CBS46 news anchor Sharon Reed shredded mayo mascot Kathy Rae for calling her the n-word in an email about the station's recent Atlanta mayoral election coverage, a message she awesomely read word-for-word on the air. "You are what I call a [N-word] not a black person. you are what's wrong with the world".

CBS 46 anchor Sharon Reed became an internet sensation after she took down a racist viewer live on air. According to Reed, she repeatedly wrote "Niger", which is a country in Western Africa. But I could clap back and say a few things to you. "Number One: You mischaracterized what I said".

Before the email was shown on screen, Ms Reed said, "a woman by the name of Kathy Rae emailed me". I didn't say white people couldn't talk about race, on the contrary, we think race is an authentic discussion to have... It's okay for blacks to discuss certain subjects but not whites...

"So I think when arguing with somebody, you have to be careful not to mischaracterize their viewpoint, so I won't mischaracterize your view either, Kathy Rae", she continued. "I get it. On Dec. 5, 2017, you think it's okay to call this journalist a 'n--'", she said, the slur going uncensored. "So I won't mischaracterize your view either, Kathy Rae. And that's the last word".

The offending email came while the news team was reporting on the tight Atlanta mayor's run-off between Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is black, and Mary Norwood, who is white. Atlanta has had black mayors since the 1970s. "And then there is the belief that you have to keep it real".

Kathie Rae didn't want Reed talking about race, but Reed wasn't backing down. What she said was not in a teleprompter.

"First of all, if she is going to a derogatory word, she needs to learn how to spell it!" wrote one user. Rather, he said, a third party admitted to Reed that they were making the postings.

Within minutes of receiving the racist note, Reed read Rae's email live on-air.

Folks including rapper Killer Mike and comedian W. Kamau Bell praised Reed for getting the racist viewer all the way together in such a poised manner.
