Are the Browns right to bring Hue Jackson back in 2018?

Are the Browns right to bring Hue Jackson back in 2018?

With that as the backdrop, the team announced on Thursday that executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown has been relieved of his duties and owner Jimmy Haslam released the following statement. "Today we informed Sashi that we were going in a new direction".

The Cleveland Browns fired top executive Sashi Brown, but are keeping coach Hue Jackson for another season despite a 1-27 record. We need to ensure that we maximize our opportunity for success; with our picks, free agency and building our roster.

CLEVELAND (AP) - One win in two seasons cost Sashi Brown his job with the Browns. Brown, who headed the Browns personnel department for the past two years, was the Browns eighth general manager since the team returned to Cleveland in 1999.

The Browns have stockpiled picks for future drafts, with six additional picks in April's draft.

Brown's regime has been marked with strikeouts at the quarterback position, namely trading out of the No. 2 spot in the 2016 National Football League draft as Philadelphia moved up to select Carson Wentz.

The Eagles took Wentz, a leading candidate for NFL MVP this season, second overall in 2016, after swinging a blockbuster trade with the Browns. Brown had no experience in evaluating players as he served as the team's general counsel before handling the salary cap and contracts.

But the important thing to remember is that Jackson and Haslam are staying.

The Cleveland Browns are the last winless team in the National Football League, their rookie quarterback has been something close to a disaster and the general manager who'd been tasked with turning this franchise around has just been fired.
