TMZ: Chester Bennington's autopsy shows alcohol and ecstasy

Chester Bennington Reportedly Attempted Suicide Nine Months Before His Death

The Linkin Park frontman hanged himself back in July, and an autopsy report shows that Bennington tested positive for MDMA and a small amount of alcohol.

A prescription bottle was found on his nightstand, however it was concluded that Bennington had no drugs in his system at the time of his death. There was no suicide note. "Autopsy findings are characteristic of suicidal hanging", deputy medical examiner Dr. Christopher Rogers' report says.

HollywoodLifers, are you surprised that Chester had a history of suicidal thoughts?

When police searched Bennington's home and possessions, they found pieces of fingernail underneath his iPhone and on a bedroom table. He was in an outpatient treatment program before his death, per the site.

Earlier this year, friends of Bennington told Rolling Stone that the singer had been struggling to maintain his sobriety over the past year. The toxicology report from his autopsy was revealed on December 5, more than five months after his death, and it reveals what was in his blood stream at the time that he took his own life. And when Shuck told him that he too was struggling, Bennington sent him text messages in support. The 41-year-old still had his boarding pass in his pocket from his flight from Phoenix to LAX the day before.

She said: "I'm showing this so that you know that depression doesn't have a face or a mood".
