Ball's sudden departure is just the latest in a string of early-season distractions for the Bruins.

Alford said last week that he and his staff were communicating with the players via text messages and calls, mostly to see if they are attending classes. "So I don't know if there's an adjustment, we just keep moving forward".

Now that LiAngelo is no longer a member of the UCLA basketball program, LaVar says that he is exploring overseas professional options for "Gelo" and his youngest son, LaMelo. Ball said he made that choice because LiAngelo's suspension from his shoplifting incident in China was dragging out too long, and the main reason his son was at UCLA was to play basketball. This prompted Ball to downplay Trump's role in the process, giving Ball more attention than he has ever had in the sporting world, as his actions bridged over into the realm of politics and world affairs.

LiAngelo is the middle child of Ball's three sons. Head coach Steve Alford is at right.

"I don't feel sorry for myself", LiAngelo Ball said during Wednesday, Nov. 15's news conference at UCLA.

Ball, Hill and Riley publicly apologized for their transgression while reading prepared statements at a campus news conference on November 15. Ball was one of the three UCLA basketball players who were caught stealing at a Louis Vuitton store among others in China.

Ball was one of three freshman suspended indefinitely after a shoplifting incident in China in November that became global news.

After receiving Trump's help in returning the three players back home, Ball's father, Lavar Ball, did not mince his words.

Ball and two teammates were suspended indefinitely following their arrests in China.

The Bruins are wrapping up a critical four-game homestand that Alford has dubbed "growth week" before they play their only true nonconference road game of the season Saturday at MI.

"Who?" Ball asked ESPN's Arash Markazi, when asked about Trump's involvement in the matter. In usual Trump fashion, he took to Twitter once again to accept their apology, telling them to "give a big thank you to President Xi Jinping". LiAngelo Ball explained on the Today Show that "people started taking stuff and me, just not thinking and being with them, I took something too".

"And we left thinking we'll just get away - you know how kids think".

"Cody and Jalen have done very, very good in what we wanted them to do academically, so all of our communication with them has been good", Alford said.

Please mark the time of death on the Ball family phenomenon. Some teams are also probably going to be wary about signing the Ball brothers to a deal, knowing the headache they will have to deal with once LaVar gets involved.

"Why for?" Alford responded.
