John Travolta's 'Gotti' Biopic Gets Whacked By Lionsgate 10 Days Before Its Release

Lionsgate Drops John Travolta's Mob Drama “Gotti,” Sells Film Back to Producers (Exclusive)

You'll have to wait a little longer to see the John Gotti biopic filmed in the Tri-State.

Deadline reported that the film's producers wanted a wider release than what Lionsgate's specialty arm Lionsgate Premiere planned, so they exercised a buy-back clause.

Now it likely won't hit theaters until sometime in 2018.

Speaking about the project, Connolly explained that the film would examine various aspects of the gangster's life.

Producers are trying to secure new distribution, The Tracking Board noted.

Directed by former Entourage actor Kevin Connelly, Gotti began shooting in July of previous year and features Travolta's wife Kelly Preston as the crime lord's spouse Victoria Gotti. Preston is starring as his wife Victoria Gotti.

Directed by former Entourage actor Kevin Connolly, using a script penned by Lem Dobbs and Leo Rossi, Gotti began shooting in July of previous year.

Travolta and Fiore Films were some of the constants as the film become a realization.

TheWrap has also learned that the removal from schedule and resale was not related to the film itself, but rather a question of release strategy.
