Chiefs' suspend Oakland's Marcus Peters; will miss game vs. Raiders

Kansas City Chiefs' Steven Nelson right and Marcus Peters left defend on an incomplete pass to New York Jets' Robby Anderson during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday Dec. 3 2017 in East Rutherford N.J. (AP

"This is something Marcus and I discussed", Reid said, according to The Kansas City Star.

Peters played all 82 defensive snaps in the Chiefs Week 7 loss to the Raiders at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, totaling two tackles, and providing his usual, tight coverage all evening. Head coach Andy Reid announced on Wednesday afternoon that Peters would be suspended after the most recent incident, but everything else would remain, "In-house". What changed or led Reid to this decision is not clear, but it is obvious that the Chiefs have an identity problem - especially on defense.

Reid did not respond to inquiries regarding the development, as the Chiefs enter Sunday having lost five of six games after a 5-0 start.

Peters returned to the sideline, but when he came back he was not wearing socks underneath his cleats.

Without Peters, the Chiefs may not have a choice about giving Darrelle Revis extended playing time against Oakland. Peters will also be spending the week thinking about his action as he will not be allowed to practice.

Following the game, Reid said: "That's why he left the field". Late in the game, Steve Nelson was penalized for holding, a call Peters obviously took opposition to. Peters had been flagged for unsportsman-like conduct but was not ejected.
