The Dubliner was left writhing in agony following an awkward but accidental collision with Harry Maguire.

The Irish worldwide left the field with his leg in a brace as Burnley and Ireland fans were left with an anxious wait to find out the extent of the injury.

He spent the last few days in hospital before his X-ray and Clarets boss Sean Dyche provided more details on a recovery timescale today.

A medical assessment has confirmed that the Irishman has damaged his patellar tendon.

Burnley and Republic of Ireland forward Robbie Brady faces a "substantial" absence and knee surgery following the injury sustained at Leicester last Saturday.

The Ireland wide man will sit out the next four to six months after the nasty knee injury, which requires surgery.

That means Brady will probably miss the remainder of the season if the early diagnosis proves to be true.

Brady joins club captain Tom Heaton on the treatment table after the 31-year-old goalkeeper picked up a dislocated shoulder injury on 10th September in the 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace.

The Republic of Ireland global has since made 31 Burnley appearances and had been an ever-present in the Premier League so far this season.

The next global break comes in March and Ireland will have to do without the Dubliner as they look to rebuild after the harrowing defeat to Denmark.
