Instagram adds Stories Highlights and Archive

Instagram just announced two major updates to its Stories feature that are going to change the way you use the app: Stories Archive and Stories Highlights. The most recent stories will be at the bottom of the new grid layout, and the first Story from each day will show a date indicator to help users navigate. "We encourage everyone to be thoughtful about interactions with wild animals and the environment to help avoid exploitation and to report any photos and videos you may see that may violate our community guidelines". From there, you can easily switch between your Posts Archive and your new Stories Archive.
Users will have the option to cancel the search, proceed with it and see the posts they were looking for, or learn more about the problem. But it has been undermined in various ways since it came out - notably with the site recently deciding that people could old pictures that were taken before the time limit began.
Market Pulse Stories are Rapid-fire, short news bursts on stocks and markets as they move. Until now, those pictures have disappeared unless they were stored on your phone separately. You can then use the archived Stories to build Stories Highlights in which you can group previous Stories and feature them on your Instagram profile. That consists of an area on people's profiles where they can post their favourite collections. Though the company (which could go months on end without significant app updates prior to Stories) has been spinning out new features for more than a year now, updates have barely touched profiles.
With Stories Highlights, however, comes an entirely new section on user profiles. As Instagram puts it on their blog, "To create a highlight, tap the "New" circle at the far left". From there, you can choose any stories from your archive, select a cover for your highlight and give it a name.
And unlike the traditional Instagram Stories format, this particular Story remains on your profile until you remove it.
