The Golden Knights defeated Memphis 62-55 in double overtime to win the American Athletic Conference Championship Game Saturday afternoon.

According to the oddsmakers in Vegas, No. 7 Auburn opens as a 10-point favorite over 12-0 UCF in the Peach Bowl.

For the second consecutive season Auburn will participate in a New Year's Six bowl game.

Auburn: This is the Tigers sixth trip to the Peach Bowl and first since topping Virginia 43-24 in 2011. "To have college football's only undefeated team square off against the first-ever team to defeat two College Football Playoff No. 1 ranked teams in a season makes for an extremely compelling game". Auburn now holds a 4-1 record in the game, with its last appearance resulting in a 43-24 victory over Virginia in 2011.

Sports observers say the announcement of a new Knights head coach could happen soon. The former three-star prospect from Montgomery posted 68 total tackles with three interceptions, two touchdowns and three forced fumbles in his senior season that resulted in Carver going to the state semifinal games. "We've got talented players". Auburn was ranked as high as No. 2 in the CFP last week before losing a rematch to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. We're in a really good spot and the future is very bright.

"I've been out here since twelve, and a lot of people have been out here since twelve", said student Everton Wood, "it's really cool to see the school spirit and everything".

Malzahn echoed those sentiments during his postgame media session, saying that he believes the team will repeat as SEC West Division champion and return to the conference title game one year from now, adding: "I'm happy at Auburn".
