Apple may launch an affordable 9.7-inch iPad in 2018

05 December 2017, 04:58 | Justin Tyler

As per latest report, Apple is planning to introduce a cheapest 9.7-inch iPad next year in March to attract more price-oriented customers.

According to DigiTimes, the tech giant's upcoming 9.7-inch iPad will be priced at around $259 for 2018.

The sources noted that Apple is likely to outsource production of a new iPad to power Taiwan's Compal Electronics, and printed circuit Board of the device will produce Compeq and Unitech Printed Circuit Board.

In the report, Digitimes states that this new launch will be a bid by Apple to get into the higher-volume and price-conscious markets. Despite the slowdown in the tablet market in recent years, Apple's iPad has maintained its top position as far as sales are concerned. If this report is true, this alleged iPad may become the cheapest tablet Apple has ever offered to the public.

A sub-Rs 20,000 iPad from Apple will put the company more in line to compete against the likes of Samsung, Huawei and Lenovo, to name a few. This gives Apple an edge as it is able to provide an ecosystem and brand loyalty compared to its competition, and not to mention timely updates.

Check it the source for yourself, but if I were a betting man, I'd say we might be getting a $259 iPad next year. But one will have to wait and see if a cheaper iPad will bring anything new to the table. As potential buyers of a budget tablet from Apple referred to as consumers of industrial sector and service sector. They are saying that Apple is now working on an iPad which may cost even less than the current model.
