Jak and Daxter PS2 Classics coming to the PS4 on December 6th

PlayStation 4 Will Be Getting New Dashboard Theme Based on Play Station 2

After a bit of speculation over the past few days, Sony has confirmed that the remaining three games in the Jak and Daxter series are coming to the PS4. PS2 Classics versions of Naughty Dog's Jak 2, Jak 3 and Jak X Combat Racing will all launch December 6 on the PlayStation Store, the company announced today.

Set on an unnamed planet, these games follow the two protagonists, Jak and Daxter, as they try to unlock the secrets of their world and discover mysteries left behind by the Precursors.

The Jak and Daxter series was originally developed by Naughty Dog for PS2. Jak and Daxter is a trademark of Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC. Interestingly, they made a decision to take the franchise in another direction when they released their fourth main game, Jak X Combat Racing in 2005. This was a trait Jak has kept ever since and was something that allowed Naughty Dog to take the franchises' narrative to the next level. If you're familiar with Jak and Daxter in general, the Jak games are a little different, a little "darker", but decent platformers and worth trying out. However, if the Jak and Daxter PS4 releases prove popular enough, Naughty Dog may be convinced to return to the franchise, or Sony may assign another one of its first-party studios to start development on a sequel. Naughty Dog would go on to create the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises.

The Jak and Daxter PS4 bundle will be available on December 6th.

A launch trailer has been released for Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X Combat Racing. The titles will also be available for individual purchase.
