Padmavati row: Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Prasoon Joshi to meet parliamentary panel

Padmavati row The makers submit fresh application to CBFC for its 3D version

Meanwhile, the 30-member parliamentary panel on IT has also asked the producers of the movie and officials of the information and broadcasting ministry to attend the meeting and brief it on the furore related to the film, reports PTI.

The release of Padmavati, which was originally slated for 1 December, has been postponed indefinitely as its makers await CBFC certification. The makers of the movie have submitted the three application which includes the latest 3D one, to the Censor Board. However, the whole movie was shot in 2D, but the makers have made a decision to convert the movie into a 3D after they got a positive feedback on the 3D trailer. The 2D application came to them a while back. The first application has been returned to the makers of the movie because there were no disclaimers.

Pandey said the film is a matter of national pride and, hence, a solution can't be reached by screening the film to a select group, the Time of India reported. A formal decision on the second application is still pending with the board.

Many historians are unconvinced that Padmavati actually existed. "We will restart our plan (the release date) once we get the censor certificate", a source close to the producers said.

"We are sure they (the leaders) will be guided by the basic premise under the rule of law and not venture outside", the bench added. The Karni Sena members have said that they won't let the movie be released because it hurts Rajputi Sentiments. "Padmavati can not be released in Bihar till the government receives proper clarification from the makers of the film", he said, reported the Deccan Chronicle.

The film stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the lead.

Dismissing the petition, the top court pulled up people holding high offices for making statements tantamount to "pre-judging" the movie, which has angered the Right-wing activist groups across the country.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij too jumped into the controversy on Tuesday and said, "I am astonished that in a democracy we need court's permission to express ourselves".
