It is suggested that the Hornets are braced for a third approach in the coming days but they are desperate to keep hold of their manager.

Watford immediately rejected the unwanted enquiry for their highly-rated boss insisting publicly yesterday that Silva is staying put at Vicarage Road.

The managerial hotseat is up for grabs at Goodison Park, after Ronald Koeman was sacked by the Toffees last month.

"We will not countenance an approach for our manager, either from Everton or indeed any other club, be it in the Premier League or overseas", said a club spokesman.

The 40-year-old joined Watford after leaving Hull at the end of last season.

But he has impressed by leading the Hornets to ninth in the table after 11 games.

Everton are now assessing their options and considering whether it is worth stepping up their pursuit of Silva.

Paul Joyce of the Times has this afternoon revealed the financial details of Everton's offer to Watford for manager Marco Silva.

Having lost to Leicester in his first league game in temporary control of the team, Unsworth led Everton to a 3-2 victory over (incidentally) Marco Silva's Watford before the worldwide break.

However, former Crystal Palace chairman, Jordan does not think it will be a good move for Silva by saying: "I think he's gone into Watford and he is doing a decent job there".

Sean Dyche is another who has been regularly linked with the role, but apparently still no contact has been made between the Toffees and the Burnley boss.
