Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' tops 1 million sales in four days

Taylor Swift

Fans were ready for it last night in New York City as Taylor Swift and AT&T hosted an invite-only event with 200 fans to celebrate Swift's new album reputation.

This will be Taylor's fourth album with a million-selling week - and likely her best sales week to date.

Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran attend the 2015 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 17, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Billboard reported that the singer's first album in three years has sold 1.05 million copies in the US, making it the top-selling album of 2017. Past records achieving the feat include "1989", "Red" and "Speak Now".

The country singer turned pop star is the only artist to have four different albums sell more than a million copies in a week since Nielsen Music started tracking album sales in 1991. If we're comparing Swift and Adele, though, it's worth noting that while Reputation's first-week sales are mighty impressive, they don't even come close to the historic first week 25 had, when it earned an astounding 3.48 million equivalent album units in the week ending on November 26th, 2015.

This mega-success comes as a bit of a shock after Swift's first singles from Reputation were panned by critics.

Ed Sheeran wants to make it known that Taylor Swift was definitely, 100% percent, forsure forsure, absolutely not talking about him on her Reputation track "Dress".
