Didier Drogba ready to retire in New Year

Didier Drogba who now plays for Phoenix Rising in America's USL, has announced that he will retire from football at the end of the season.

The 39-year-old forward became the first player to own a club when he bought United Soccer League club Phoenix Rising FC earlier this year.

During two spells at Stamford Bridge, Droga scored 164 goals and won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League.

The 2012 Champions League victor scored 10 goals in 14 regular season games to help his franchise into the USL playoffs, where they lost to eventual championship runners-up Swope Park Rangers.

"Ah, do you want a scoop?"

He has been playing for Phoenix since April and has netted 10 times in his 14 appearances.

'I think next year will be my last season, ' Drogba added. At some point, we must stop, "said the former captain of Elephants on RMC". I need to have time for my other projects'.

Didier Drogba has revealed Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's defiant response when confronted over the number of managers he has sacked at Stamford Bridge. "Playing is good, but at 39, it slows me a bit".

He left Chelsea in the summer of 2015 to move to America and spent two seasons with Montreal Impact in the MLS.
