Manchester United will not be panicked into selling Marouane Fellaini in January even though the Belgium midfielder has rejected a new contract at Old Trafford.

United are keen for the Belgium global to stay but negotiations, which began last season, have dragged on after he rejected an offer in September.

Fellaini signed in 2013 on a four-year contract with the option on the club's side to trigger a further year which they did for this season.

Fellaini is free to hold talks with overseas clubs as from January and could agree to join another team before the season ends.

However, the report also claims that Arsenal are interested in the Belgian alongside Inter Milan and Besiktas.

SKY SPORTSJose Mourinho says Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will play before the end of 2017

It is understood Fellaini has a good relationship with Mourinho, which could be a key factor in the player's eventual decision.

Jose Mourinho now sees Valencia's Carlos Soler as his main January transfer target, in what is likely to be a limited window for Manchester United.

Italian transfer source Calciomercato very briefly report that Arsenal are keen on signing Fellaini with no real sense of the degree in interest.

Last December, sections of United fans booed the midfielder in their first match back at Old Trafford after he clumsily gave away a penalty which allowed former club Everton to snatch a late draw.

Fellaini feels he's worth more than the club's latest contract offer, which was a small increase on his current £100,000-a-week pay.
