Super thirsty WikiLeaks slid into Donald Trump Jr.'s DMs

But just 15 minutes after it was sent, as The Wall Street Journal's Byron Tau pointed out, Donald Trump himself tweeted, "Very little pick-up by the dishonest media of incredible information provided by WikiLeaks". In a direct message, WikiLeaks asked Trump Jr.to send them the emails for release, saying, "We think this is strongly in your interest".
Wikileaks continued to send messages to Trump Jr.in the final few weeks of the presidential election.
Attorney Alan Futerfas told The Atlantic Trump Jr. has worked with Congressional authorities looking into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
Requests from WikiLeaks kept coming in after the election. At one point, the organization asked for Trump's tax returns.
In July 2016, WikiLeaks published 20,000 internal e-mails from the Democratic National Committee, a hack that likely originated from Russian Federation. "It is time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is-a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia", CIA Director Mike Pompeo said in April.
The messages were turned over to Congress and copies were obtained by The Atlantic. WikiLeaks expressed appreciation after then-candidate Trump exclaimed "I love WikiLeaks" during a campaign rally on October 10. "Hope you're doing well!" .
According to The Atlantic, Trump Jr. never once told WikiLeaks to fuck off.
"Off the record I don't know who that is, but I'll ask around", Trump Jr. allegedly replied the next day.
If Trump Jr. knowingly accepted "help", as he appears to in these newly-released DMs, he would have accepted a contribution from a foreign national - and would be guilty of a federal crime.
"It's awesome what she can get away with", he added.
WikiLeaks also offered advice to Mr. Trump through his son.
"Hiya, it'd be great if you guys could comment on/push this story", WikiLeaks wrote to Trump Jr. on October 3, 2016. On October 12, 2016, it wrote, "There's many great stories the press are missing and we're sure some of your follows [sic] will find it..."
The chats, which were also handed over to congressional investigators, started last summer after WikiLeaks began releasing a trove of emails poached by hackers from prominent Democratic Party members-the product of Kremlin-directed cyberattacks, according to the USA intelligence community, as well as multiple private security firms that examined the DNC's corpse of a server.
Also at no time did Trump Jr. or any of the above named Trump campaign officials contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as they should have done. Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates were indicted on a slew of federal charges last month and Trump policy adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian operatives, reportedly out of loyalty to the president. "So dishonest! Rigged system!"
The message came three days after The New York Times published a bombshell report detailing Trump Jr.'s meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer in June 2016 at Trump Tower.
