Sony Breathes Life Into Spider-Man Spinoff 'Morbius The Living Vampire'

'Spider-Man' Spinoff: Morbius the Living Vampire Movie in the Works With 'Power Rangers' Writers
Speaking of Google, a quick cursory search reveals Morbius to be Dr. Michael Morbius - a scientist who suffers from a rare blood disease and attempts to cure himself to disastrous results (he becomes a vampire). Yet, it still depends on how Venom turns out, since, like the Morbius project, it will serve as the cold introduction to an iconic Spider-Man-connected character, sans the presence of Spider-Man, acquainting audiences with the identifiable elements of a dubious, sometimes-malevolent protagonist.
Morbius debuted in 1971's Amazing Spider-Man #101, created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane.
The report described the film as a "Sony-Marvel" movie, and while the two studios have recently collaborated to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's not clear right now where Morbius would fit. He gained super strength and is absolutely willing to drink blood for the sake of science. His physical appearance was transformed to become more bat-like, making him one of the more striking monsters in the Marvel universe. Indeed, the tragic aspects of Morbius's origin story quickly led to him being spotlighted in solo stories in Marvel's Adventure into Fear, later occasionally popping back up in the Spider-Man titles as a rival.
The upcoming film, titled simply Morbius for now, will be written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.
What route, exactly, Sony is going to go with the character is not yet known as they've declined to comment on the news. While Morbius first appeared in Spider-Man, he eventually went on to have his own series of comics. Silver & Black (starring Silver Sable and Black Cat) is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and also has an October 2018 release date.
After Sony and Marvel made history by deciding to share Spider-Man with the MCU, Sony has chose to move forward with Spider-Man spinoffs that are set outside of the cinematic universe. Now, if we could just talk someone into an Elsa Bloodstone movie.
Missouri Attorney General to investigate Google
The European Union is also investigating Google over its Android mobile platform and its AdSense for Search service. Hawley's office said Missouri's strong consumer-protection laws could help with a potential lawsuit over user data.
