Erdogan Demands Russia, US to Withdraw their Forces from Syria

Putin Trump agree to fighting Daesh in Syria Kremlin says

He was speaking at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, Turkish media reported November 13.

The solidarity of Turkey and Russian Federation in resolving regional crises further strengthens the relations between the two countries, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Moscow has deployed military force in Syria to support the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, while Turkey has backed elements within the armed Syrian opposition.

"Russia and the USA must withdraw their forces if the military solution was indeed not on the table", he added.

Erdogan said Kurdish forces continued to occupy the town, despite repeated Turkish requests to the US that they should be transferred across the Euphrates river.

Relations between Russia and Turkey are almost back to the level they were prior to the Turkish downing of a Russian warplane over Syria two years ago, the presidents of both countries have said.

"There is no military solution to the conflict in Syria", read a joint statement issued after Putin met with U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday on the sidelines of a regional meeting in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Ankara is seeking to isolate the party in order to prevent its linking up with other Kurdish regions in northern Syria.
