After an early special teams mistake helped to hand the Patriots the opening touchdown in Denver on Sunday night, a second miscue allowed Dion Lewis to double New England's total. Broncos fans have every reason to be concerned with Denver on a four game losing streak, capped off with a 51-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles just one week ago.

But he's been fourth on the depth chart of late, playing 13 snaps in each of the team's past three games and tapped mostly in short-yardage situations.

Gillislee may be the biggest surprise as it is first game inactive as a member of the Patriots. Bennett was claimed off waivers by the Patriots on Thursday after being released Wednesday by the Packers.

Entering Sunday night, White led all Patriots running backs in snaps played at 42.9 percent, followed by Gillislee (26.3), Lewis (25.1) and Burkhead (9.3 after missing four games with an injury to his ribs).

The New England Patriots have officially ruled out three starters - wide receiver Chris Hogan (shoulder), defensive tackle Malcom Brown (ankle) and right tackle Marcus Cannon (ankle) - which was expected after they missed the full week of practice.

The Broncos' offense stepped up on the next series and it ended with a field goal.
