IPhone X screen can become unresponsive in cold weather

13 November 2017, 07:50 | Jodi Jackson

"It's very noticeable", user reported. Prior to the speaker problems, the most recent issue was the prominent green line which appeared on the side of the display.

It's generally never a good thing when the word freeze and a tech product appear in the same sentence, but that's what happened with Apple's iPhone X - just in time for a Northeast cold snap.

Apple has not officially commented on the issue, and any customers affected are encouraged to return their $999-plus device to the point of sale to have it replaced.

Ever since the iPhone X hit the market, Apple fanatics are going gaga over it. One user reported noticing a crackling when playing something at "near max volume or when putting people on speakerphone".

After Google encountered a series of Pixel 2-related issues, it's now Apple's turn to face some heat as a few iPhone X users have been taking to social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit to complain about some new problems cropping up. Although some users appear to be experiencing the issue with any kind of sounds such as including phone calls, music, and ringtones. It reportedly won't go away even after several restart attempts.

Even though Apple has resolved the bug in its iOS 11.1.1 update, the company continues to be trolled for it. But, a number of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus users experienced a similar problem with static noise on their devices, and Apple fixed that with a simple firmware update. Last week, Apple had also warned users that the iPhone X's OLED screen might fall prey to screen burn in, and advised users to keep the brightness as low as possible to avoid the problem.

However, Apple says that it is aware of the issue and is planning a software update to fix the issue in the coming days.
