Google to remove apps from Play Store if found in violation

Android 8.1 Oreo will save space by reducing size of inactive apps

The Burn In problem

While the intended objective is for developers to create apps for users with disabilities, the API is often used for other functionality (to overlay content, fill in text fields, etc.). Failure to explain the need for the API in this regard will result in the app being removed from Google Play.

There are some apps which use Google's Accessibility Services such as LastPass, Universal Copy, Clipboard Actions, Cerberus, Tasker and Network Monitor Mini.

The move comes as Google aims to crack down on malicious apps. Apparently when granted the right permissions, the API can be used to read data from other apps, which means that someone who wanted to "steal" data from other apps could do so by creating an app that used the API.

Google has issued a stern warning to multiple developers, questioning them on how they use accessibility services and APIs in their apps. Reducing the cache size will only slow down the app launch when you open the app next time.

We're not seeing any solution just yet but the Android 8.1 Developer Preview shows a tool which will help you figure out which app or apps are the most battery draining ones.

Google plans to remove all apps that do not comply with its " Permissions policy and Prominent Disclosure requirements", the search giant announced.

Alternatively, you can choose to unpublish the app. Google states that developers can alternatively remove the request for accessibility services within the app, or can choose to unpublish their app.

"Like the other policy that basically says that "apps that crash violate developer policy and can be taken down" this new statement is too vague".

The developers of Google has completed the process of modernization of the Android operating system 8.1 Oreo. All violations are tracked. One of my colleagues will get back to you within 2 business days.

As you can see, this change will most likely affect hundreds if not thousands of applications on the Play Store.

Several other developers have told us they received this email, and there is a Reddit thread full of additional reports. If notifications are the ones that are draining your battery you can easily disable them and continue to use your application.
