D'Angelo Russell's injury leaves hole at point guard for Brooklyn Nets

13 November 2017, 10:04 | Melissa Porter

However, while the rookie who replaced him in Los Angeles was putting the finishing touches on a record-breaking triple-double Saturday night, Russell limped off the court in the final moments of Brooklyn's 114-106 loss to the Utah Jazz.

Nets guard D'Angelo Russell will miss multiple games with a left knee contusion, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Russell landed awkwardly and hobbled to the bench before going to the locker room.

Now, the Nets will likely be without D'Angelo Russell for a bit. The Nets are scheduled to return home Tuesday against the Boston Celtics and host the Golden State Warriors next Sunday.

Russell was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 National Basketball Association draft, averaging 14.8 points and 4.1 assists in his two-plus-year National Basketball Association career.

The diagnosis is better than the last time a Nets guard suffered a knee injury.

Russell's prognosis isn't serious, but it will result in the third-year guard missing several games of action.

The team is already without Jeremy Lin for the remainder of the season, as he went down with a ruptured patella tendon back in October.
