All four products from the VW Group - the Polo, T-Roc, Skoda Karoq and Seat Arona - scored very highly too, with over 93 per cent each in the Adult Occupant category.

As you would expect, the new XC60, which is built on Volvo's latest scalable architecture, received high scores in every area of safety.

The new Volvo XC60 SUV has "Aced" the latest Euro NCAP tests, scoring a five star rating and 40 per cent above average on Safety Assist.

Euro NCAP report that the T-Roc scored 96% for Adult Occupant protection, while child occupant protection was determined to be at 87%.

Tallying 37.25 out of 38 overall points in the "Adult Occupant Protection" category, the Swedish model achieved flawless scores in the side impact at 50km/h (eight out of eight) and oblique pole at 32km/h (eight out of eight) crash tests, as well as for its city autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system (three out of three).

In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection was good or adequate for all critical body regions of both the driver and rear passenger.

The whiplash protection test resulted in a 2.85 out of three. The other categories - child occupancy and pedestrian safety - were also scored well above average.

Crash testing organisation Euro NCAP has released its most recent batch of results - and it's good news for auto buyers. Check out the cool slow-mo crash test footage below for more.

The "Pedestrian Protection" category produced the svelte Swede's poorest return, with 31.93 out of 42 overall points - or 76 per cent - totalled.

The auto safety organisation has released its latest ratings, with all eight newly tested cars achieving five stars out of five.
