The OnePlus 5T won't get wireless charging, and that's fine

OnePlus 5T Will Lack Wireless Charging

It is rather interesting especially when you consider that when the first OnePlus smartphone was launched, it was just under $300, although subsequent models released afterwards have seen an increase in price. Pete Lau, the company's CEO, tweeted about the new phone and the tweet hints about the higher price of OnePlus 5T. It's now confirmed that the 5T will not support wireless charging, and on top of that, it may be sold at the same price point as the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus in its latest blog post not only called out the inferior capabilities of the wireless charging but also backed its Dash Charging, its propriety fast-charging technology.

OnePlus's CEO, Pete Lau, has already confirmed the phone will have a headphone slot, while his company's own Twitter feed has intimated that the device will launch in NY. The company is unaware of customer's requirement when it comes to charging their phone battery but they are pretty sure users are just going to fall in love with this feature after they actually use it.

"Wireless charging is an exciting concept that's matured a lot over the last few years". The successor to the OnePlus 5, this gen-next smartphone from OnePlus has been making rounds on the internet.

Also - wireless charging is pretty slow, especially when compared to Dash Charge and Quick Charging.

Dash Charge eliminates both of those problems, he added. You can't pick up your phone to game or take a photo while charging.

"Given present day infrastructures, wireless charging brings more limitations than freedom". As pointed out by XDA, having wireless charging could benefit a lot of users by allowing them to have short but frequent intermittent charging all throughout the day. But, that's not the case with dash charger - you can simply plug-in and use you phone for anything and at anytime.

Furthermore, reports have indicated that the phone is expected to come out with a bezel-less display and will feature pretty much the same specifications as the regular OnePlus 5. All the firm would need to do is redesign the handset to allow rays to pass through and install a charging coil, then it would be good to go.

For wireless charging to be convenient, there needs to be charging pads positioned around your home, which can add up to a significant expense, said Lau.
