American automaker Ford India has finally launched its new 2017 EcoSport compact SUV in India. The range tops off with the Titanium Plus petrol automatic, priced at Rs 1,099,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated new compact SUV EcoSport gets both cosmetic and mechanical changes and looks attractive, more significant and different from the outgoing models. The new EcoSport comes with a host of updated features, new styling, revised cabin as well as an all-new petrol engine. The base variant comes with 15-inch steel wheels, while higher variants get 16-inch alloy wheels.
The new 2017 Ford EcoSport will also feature a Ford signature grille and bigger projector headlamps and fog lamp bezel.
The new EcoSport features Ford's in-car infotainment system, SYNC 3, which allows drivers to control their entertainment, climate settings, as well as their connected smartphone, all with conversational voice commands. The seats are also better cushioned now and get a new simpler folding mechanism for the rear bench.
The petrol EcoSport gets an all-new 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated engine that puts out 123 PS of power and 150 Nm of torque, mated to either a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission. Company officials say the outgoing EcoSport's saw 7-10 percent sales of the automatic variant and expect the facelifted model to achieve the same if not more, given the growing demand for automatics in urban India.
Delivering Ford's fun-to-drive DNA in the new EcoSport will be an all-new three-cylinder 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol engine that's smaller, lighter and efficient. The engine develops 123bhp of power and 150Nm of peak torque. The new petrol engine will deliver segment best 123 PS of power & 150 Nm of torque with a 7% reduction in Carbon dioxide emissions and outstanding fuel efficiency of 17 Km/L.
The SUV also available with the 1.5-litre diesel which remains untouched along with its five-speed manual gearbox.
The starting price surprisingly hasn't changed and the lower variants too have kept the prices of the previous models. Higher variants get additional safetyfeatures such as side and curtain airbags, speed warning, emergency brake assist (EBA), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill launch assist, ISOFIX child safety seat mounting points and cruise control.
On the safety front, the SUV gets dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard, with the Titanium+ variant getting six airbags in total.
