Drake Revives British Drama 'Top Boy' as Netflix Original Series

Additionally, this new installment - which will premiere as a Netflix original series in 2019 - adds Drake, DJ Adel "Future the Prince" Nur, and LeBron James' business partners Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson as executive producers.
In a Hollywood Reporter cover story published this morning, Drake outlined his plan to move into TV and film production, and he already has an impressive list of partners and potential projects. The next chapter, consisting of 10 new episodes, will be written by show creator Ronan Bennett and executive produced by the original creative team of Bennett, Charles Steel and Yann Demange. After the events of Dushane (Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane Robinson) in S2, we were left with a major cliffhanger and no promise of an answer.
"My taste in television or movies is always kind of similar to my approach to music, which is, I like when people really hit the nail on the head with real human emotions", he said. "We couldn't be more excited for Netflix members around the world and a new generation of fans to discover the authentic, raw and real world of Top Boy", she said.
In the new series the characters will reportedly return from exile and prison to try and dominate the drug trade, and will have to take on a ruthless younger gang leader.
Now a third season will premiere as an Netflix original series, thanks to Drake and National Basketball Association star LeBron James, who's producing it via his Spring Hill Entertainment production company.
