Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Open Beta Deadline Extended

Additionally, unlocking most weapons and upgrading Star Cards will only be accessible in accordance with a player's rank, which can only be progressed by playing the game.

If you get a duplicate Star Card in a crate, you will get crafting parts which you can then use to help upgrade the Star Card of your choice. While the post does say that Star Cards will still be included in Loot Boxes, it's a good sign that at least the most powerful items won't have a shortcut to earning them by getting a lucky roll on a premium Loot Box. The most powerful items in the game will, instead, be unlocked through achievements, and only achievements.

It remains to be seen how these changes will affect Star Wars Battlefront 2's gameplay, but after really enjoying my time with the beta I'm glad to hear that EA is adjusting its stance on loot boxes.

In a post discussing the reaction to the beta, which saw many players expressing concern that the finished game would be pay-to-win as a result of its loot crates, EA wrote: "Rest assured, we're continuing to listen to you coming out of Beta".

The Battlefront beta closed on Thursday after being extended for 2 extra days and the full game will release on November 14.

In the day and age where triple-A titles like to abuse the words "Alpha" and "Beta" to show how "early" a title is - despite it being a month out from release - we also have to deal with the act of microtransactions and cut content via DLCs that are no more than a cash grab.

Unfortunately, we don't know if the system we saw in the beta will remain the same or see some tweaks. It provides them with valuable data that they can use to ensure that the game's final launch goes off without any issues. The developers are also considering making Strike Mode best out of three, nerfing the Specialists' Infiltration ability, buffing the First Order's Flametroopers, a new feature that rewards all players in a spawn wave, and other ways of incentivising team work.

So far, developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have been putting a lot of focus on the game's single player, which was sorely missed from the reboot of Star Wars Battlefront.
