Cesc Fabregas is a goal away from becoming just the third Spaniard to score 50 Premier League goals- after Diego Costa and Fernando Torres

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says France midfielder N'Golo Kante will be sidelined for three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on worldwide duty.

The Spaniard limped out of Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to City at Stamford Bridge and subsequently missed the global break with Spain.

Crystal Palace will be hoping to finally get off the mark when they welcome Chelsea to Selhurst Park for Saturday's Premier League clash.

'[Going by] the previous scan maybe....around 20 days...25 days, ' said Conte.

"With Kante we are going to do a scan next week to check his situation and if it is improving". We must have patience with his calf problem.

'You know very well the importance of Kante in our team. We don't have another player with the same characteristics.

Left with Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko as his only fit central midfielders for a busy phase of the season, which starts with Saturday's Premier League trip to Crystal Palace, Conte could push the likes of David Luiz forward or turn to youngsters Kyle Scott or Ethan Ampadu.

"For sure we're not lucky in this period".

"When I chose to utilise him in midfield against Tottenham we played with three central midfielders".

"I don't want to change a lot but if there is the necessity I am ready to do this, but also to give an opportunity to young players like Ampadu or Scott".

Morata had a scan last week, with Spain's medical staff claiming that he had suffered a grade two hamstring injury. However, Conte provided positive news regarding the Spaniard, with the former Real Madrid star could be back in time to face Roma on Wednesday (18 October).

"I hope to have Morata back against Roma", Conte said at a press conference.
