Nigeria qualified with a game to spare from Group B, finishing above reigning African champions Cameroon, an Algerian squad which impressed at the 2014 World Cup and 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winners, Zambia.

Super Eagles left full back Elderson Echiejile has been ruled out of Nigeria's final World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria in Algiers after picking up a hamstring injury in their 1-0 win over Zambia last weekend.

Super Eagles Franco-German tactician Gernot Rohr, yesterday paid glowing tribute to all the players and officials of the Super Eagles following the team's qualification to play at next year's World Cup finals in Russian Federation.

"We've been to a few World Cups in recent years, and we need to be looking at progressing further - rather than crashing out in the early stages", Olofinjana told BBC Sport.

"But I assure you the National Assembly will appropriate well enough funds for to prosecute the World Cup such that funds will not be an issue and the players won't lack anything".

Super Eagles will get the cash to fly very high at next year's World Cup in Russian Federation because it should not be another jamboree by the country, according to chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Obinna Ogba. On record, Rohr has played 10 matches, winning six and losing only one.

Algeria are out of the race to qualify for the World Cup after picking up just one point in five games, in a group where they were viewed as favourite to qualify when the draws were made.

He added that the Eagles were determined to qualify for the World Cup.
