Apple iPhone Enters Supercycle, Watch Demand Second to None

Apple teams up with LG Display for foldable iPhone

The facial recognition software on the iPhone X is not a feature we've never heard of before, however, it could be the best one available on the market.

Apple is reportedly working on a foldable iPhone in partnership with LG- and not Samsung, who is the present supplier of OLED displays for its latest iPhone.

Apple also quietly patented a foldable iPhone concept, filing on August 28, a year ago - detailing a device which uses "carbon nanotubes" to allow the screen to fold while still working. To that end, the report claims Apple is actively considering a significant investment in the LG plant responsible for the manufacturing of flexible OLED displays. There still are years to go before we will see the foldable iPhone out in the wild.

Patently Apple posted a report back in December 2016 titled "Korean Report Wildly Speculates that LG is Working with Apple, Google & Microsoft to Deliver Foldable Devices by 2018".

According to a report, the Samsung's new smartphone named "Samsung X" has passed South Korea's NRA certification or National Radio Agency.

There was a varient of this rumor that surfaced back in May about Apple preparing a foldable smartphone with LG.

Replacement cycles have extended in recent years as consumers have gotten more value out of their current phones and waited for a good reason to upgrade, she said. The Face ID, on the other hand, allows users to make payments using the Apple Pay. Some sources claim that Apple may invest in LG's new plant to beef up OLED panel production though details are yet to be finalised.

The production of the display panels is expected to kick start in 2020, suggesting that the launch of a foldable iPhone could take place in 2021, three years after Samsung's first foldable smartphone, which is rumoured to debut as early as next year.

Now, let's hope Apple will soon find a way to bury all the cameras and sensors in the iPhone X's notch under the display.
