Cub Scout dens will each remain single-gender, either all-girls or all-boys.
"This decision is true to the BSA's mission and core values outlined in the Scout Oath and Law", the BSA's Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh said in a statement.
Grasping a memorable change, the Boy Scouts of Americareported plans to concede young ladies into the Cub Scouts beginning one year from now and to build up another program for more established young ladies utilizing an indistinguishable educational modules from the Boy Scouts. But those programs have not offered a path to Eagle Scout for girls. "The values of Scouting - trustworthy, loyal, helpful, kind, fearless and reverent, for example - are important for both young men and women", Michael Surbaugh, the organization's chief executive, said in a news release.
The organization says it will start allowing girls to join the Cub Scouts, while also creating a special scouting program for girls who are too old to join the Cub Scouts.
The plan was unanimously approved by the Boy Scouts board of directors.
In a move that shakes up more than a century of tradition, the Boy Scouts of America announced Wednesday that starting next year it will welcome girls into some scouting programs.
"This unique approach allows the organization to maintain the integrity of the single gender model while also meeting the needs of today's families", the BSA said in a statement. The results indicated that families were ready for the Boy Scouts to be girl friendly.
"Strange, I thought that's what the Girl Scouts was for???" he said on Twitter.
In August, the president of the Girl Scouts accused the Boy Scouts of seeking to covertly recruit girls into their programs while disparaging the Girl Scouts' operations. After consideration, the Church announced it would remain a sponsoring member of the BSA, although it would make its own decisions about who to appoint as scout leaders. Reasons include competition from youth sports leagues, a perception by some families that they are old-fashioned and busy schedules that prompt some parents to despair of meeting all their children's obligations. The Boy Scouts say current youth participation is about 2.35 million, down from 2.6 million in 2013.
The Boy Scouts already has certain co-ed programs in place, including Venturers and Sea Scouts, both billed as character-building programs, and Exploring, which focuses on career-building.
The Swift Life Is Taylor Swift's Own Social Network
The Swift Life is going into beta testing soon, and aims for widespread release sometime in "late 2017", according to the company. Kim Kardashian should better hold on tight to her crown because Taylor is coming.
