While Netflix Raises Prices, Hulu Discounts Subscriptions For the First Year

Hulu promos discounted $5.99 entry tier to its streaming library

Its entry-level service is still priced at $7.99. But Hulu - which streams a bevy of TV shows from major networks along with a handful of original series - is actually cutting prices, just as Netflix plans to raise its own.

The offer is available for new subscribers signing up before January 9, 2018.

Hulu lowered prices for its entry-level plan.

Less than a week after Netflix announced a price hike for some of its plans, Hulu announced it's going in the opposite direction. It also increased the price of its premium plan.

Hulu has been adding to its current services. Hulu's commercial-free option is still available for $11.99 per month, while the live TV and on-demand streaming service, Hulu With Live TV, is available for $39.99 per month.

Definitely a good PR move here, especially after they have been on a streak of good news, following their Emmy win for "The Handmaid's Tale.' The service also continues to line up massive wins in their content library, getting exclusive rights to 'This is Us, ' and nearly the entire back catalog of 'TGIF" shows like 'Boy Meets World, ' and 'Family Matters'.

The promotion, it is reported, was only coincidentally rolled out before the Netflix move on September 21.

If you're never tried Hulu before, the streaming company is certainly doing everything it can to give you a reason to do so.
