Assassin's Creed: Origins monetized via time-saver packs

Assassin's Creed: Origins will have multiple game saves, photo mode and voice overs for Discovery Mode

After that, in March 2018, Ubisoft will release "The Curse of the Pharaohs" which looks suitably weird. Additional season pass content includes Roman Centurion and Horus Packs that have new items including weapons, outfits, and mounts.

Creative Director Jean Guesdon describes the hidden blade as essentially the series' most powerful weapon. In the video below, we get some more information about what is included in the Season Pass and what free content will be available to players after release.

A regular Trials of the Gods live event will see you take on Egyptian deities via a good ol' "glitch in the Animus". The first Trial of the Gods event will be available 15 days after the launch of the game. Available at the launch of the game. Daily quests will be given via the Nomad's Bazaar who is a travelling merchant. Photo mode is also in the game at launch.

Horde Mode: Players will fight endless waves of enemies in the Gladiator Arena. They will be able to compare their scores with their friends and challenge them asynchronously.

Ubisoft will add a selection of free updates to the game as well, including the recently-announced Discovery Tour mode created to showcase the world of Egypt in an educational setting. Eurogamer previewed Assassin's Creed: Origins recently and also spotted the loot boxes. Players complete quests-linear scenarios with set objectives-to progress through the story, earn experience points and acquire new skills. With an entire country to explore, from deserts to lush oases, from the Mediterranean Sea to the tombs of Giza, players will fight against unsafe factions and wild beasts as they explore this very big and unpredictable land.

While Warner Bros and EA seem to be pushing the limits of what microtransactions players will accept, Ubisoft is choosing to stay out of the line of fire this year.

Assassin's Creed Origins launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 27th October, and you can read VideoGamer's full interview here.

The game's loot boxes will contain in-game items that will aid players on their journey throughout the game.
