Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Day 4, live cricket score

Wahab Riaz replaces injured Hassan Ali

Sri Lanka went to stumps with a 254-run lead over Pakistan after 15 wickets fell on a turbulent Day 3 of the second test.

Riaz dismissed Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal leg before for nought in the last over before close to give Pakistan a faint hope of upsetting the tables, but it will be an uphill task for their faltering batsmen to improve in the second innings. The incident occurred as the left-arm pacer attempted to deliver the 5th ball of his 19th over - 111th over of Sri Lanka's first innings. Only Azhar Ali with 59 and Haris Sohail (56) offered some resistance during a battling fifth-wicket stand of 71 that lifted Pakistan from a struggling 109 for 4. Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera bagged three wickets each.

"The fast bowler has been advised two to three weeks rest after he underwent an MRI scan today following complains of pain in his right shin", a PCB statement said.

The ODI series begins on October 13 in Dubai.

Meanwhile, the selectors have named uncapped Usman Khan Shinwari as the replacement for Amir in the ODIs to follow.

Pakistan have also not lost a series at home (adopted home included) since their 1-0 defeat to South Africa in 2007.

The Sarfraz Ahmed-led Pakistan team had a disappointing outing in the first Test against the Islanders in Abu Dhabi, after the visitors finally clinched a victory by 21 runs.

Having been the primary architect of Sri Lanka's slide late on day three, it was Wahab Riaz who broke through first on Monday.
