As Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez both uncovered genuine medical problems this week, the Mother Monster has connected with Gomez sending "prayers" and "love". On Sept. 7, Gomez's assistant Theresa Mingus was photographed holding a puppy and taking it back to Gomez's New York City apartment. "Francia did it for friendship, for her love for Selena, and because they care a lot for each other".

Demi Lovato just proved that she will never stop supporting friend Selena Gomez.

Officials at America's Lupus Research Alliance have saluted Selena Gomez for going public with her kidney transplant news, claiming it has helped them raise over $500,000 (GBP368,000).

"I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn't promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of", Gomez, 25, captioned the Instagram post.

On Thursday, Gomez uncovered that she had experienced a kidney transplant because of her Lupus prior this late spring. Selena needed a transplant due to lupus, an autoimmune disease and it was her best friend Francia Raisa who donated her kidney to her. The singer posted an image of herself and one of her friends in hospital beds next to one another. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. "I am incredibly blessed", added Gomez.

"I was just as surprised as everyone else when I woke up and saw her Instagram", the "Jealous" singer told SiriusXM's Hits 1 during an interview on Friday.

Her tweet follows one from Kesha from earlier Friday, where she sent out a message of support to both the musicians. She has previously talked about her time spent in a rehabilitation center in 2014 after undergoing chemotherapy to address her disease (and the stress of drug abuse rumors spawning from her time spent there trying to get healthy).
