Allies safe from North Korea, Trump vows

Trump on North Korea: Maybe 'fire and fury' comment 'wasn't tough enough'

The ARF statement expressed "grave concern" over North Korea missile tests, including the tests of what analysts have said are intercontinental ballistic missiles.

"Australia will come to the aid of the USA just as if there was an attack on Australia, the USA would come to our aid".

China's government says it would remain neutral if North Korea attacks the United States, but warned it would defend its Asian neighbor if the US strikes first and tries to overthrow Kim Jong Un's regime, Chinese state media said Friday.

Chinese state television cited Trump as telling Xi that he fully understands the role China has been playing on the North Korean nuclear issue. "Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!".

Mr Calvo, a second-term Republican, said he had "never felt more safe or so confident" than with Mr Trump at the helm.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday that "the risks are very high" that the U.S. and North Korea could go to war, while German Chancellor Angela Merkel said an escalation in language was "the wrong response".

Officials in Guam yesterday released official advice on how to cope with a North Korean nuclear strike, but most residents remain relatively relaxed about the threat.

Koji Tsuruoka, the Japanese ambassador to the United Kingdom, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "If there is any provocation, it all comes from North Korea".

Guam's governor was assured of his island's safety on Saturday, with United States president Donald Trump giving the territory "1000 percent" backing. The missile defense program is meant to shoot down shorter range missiles.

Seoul foreign ministry spokesman Cho Joon-hyuk said Thursday North Korea's defiance would ultimately work against the regime, South Korean news service News 1 reported. "If Kim Jong Un said he would hit Anchorage, would he say, go ahead hit Anchorage and see what happens?", Underwood said.

Tillerson also said handling North Korea requires a "combined" message, and the president has "made it clear" he prefers a "diplomatic solution".

Meanwhile, China has reiterated calls for all sides to maintain calm and reduce tensions over the Korean Peninsula. On Tuesday, he said North Korea will be met with "fire and fury like the world has never seen," and then Friday morning, he tweeted that the military solutions are "locked and loaded".

Moscow said the exchange of threats between Washington and Pyongyang "worry us very much".

When speaking at his golf estate in Bedminster, N.J., Trump warned that the country will "truly regret it" if it overtly threatens the USA again.

The release came just days after North Korea's army said in a statement that it was reviewing a plan to attack the USA territory. North Korea has always viewed the training as preparation for war.
