Wenger Confirms Olivier Giroud Will Stay At Arsenal

Olivier Giroud was on hand on the opening day of the English Premier League to save Arsenal the agony of losing at home, when he came in as a sub to give the Gunners a 4-3 winning edge over Leicester.

A crossfield ball found Hector Bellerin on the right, with the full-back playing the ball back to Mohamed Elneny, who floated in a first-time cross.

However, following yesterday's opening Premier League encounter against Leicester City, a game in which Giroud scored the victor, he confirmed he meant to stay at Arsenal.

Goals from two substitutes in the final ten minutes of the game - first Aaron Ramsey and then Giroud - would take Arsenal to a remarkable 4-3 win. Giroud had been linked with moves to Marseille, West Ham and Everton over the summer and speculation intensified when striker Alexandre Lacazette arrived at the Emirates with a £52 million price tag, the sort of money which demands game time.

After the victory, the Arsenal boss was quick to praise his team and the impact Lacazette made on his Premier League debut.

"You come away from home, score three goals and are almost there and then concede two.bitterly disappointed", he said. "I don't think I would have started him", he said.

England striker Vardy put the visitors 2-1 ahead just before the half hour, darting into the box to rifle another fine Albrighton cross past Cech after the winger had pounced on a poor square ball from Arsenal midfielder Mezut Ozil. "He's a collective player and an intelligent player".

The England global, who scored twice in the game, watched helplessly as Arsenal came from 3-2 down to grab an incredible 4-3 victory over the Foxes.

"The first goal is on a short corner, we were not focused enough".

"Top quality game and you want PL to be best in the world and you have to produce games like that", Wenger told reporters. "I feel that with a bit of work we can get that out of our system".

The Gunners look strong as they are coming off the Community Shield win over Chelsea at Wembley while Leicester has also played well in preseason training matches. "We had 27 attempts and they had three on target and three goals, but it's something we have to work on". Jamie Vardy is back to his old self.
