Central Intelligence Agency head expects more Nth Korea missile tests

In a separate interview on "Fox News Sunday", Pompeo was asked about the nature and degree of threat to the US mainland in light of Kim's continuing drive to develop North Korea's missile and nuclear capacities.

Some former security and defense officials have said that Trump's rhetoric - including a threat of "fire and fury" and an assertion days later that the USA military was "locked and loaded" in the face of North Korea's provocations - have made a volatile situation worse.

"The U.S. military is locked and loaded every day", McMaster said, repeating Trump's threat.

Mr Pompeo said he was "quite confident" that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un would "continue to try to develop" the country's weapons programme.

There is no imminent threat of a nuclear war with North Korea, the top U.S. intelligence official says, amid growing tensions between the countries.

Asked how anxious people should be, Pompeo told Fox News Sunday: "Nothing imminent".

Mike Pompeo says Pyongyang is moving at an "ever alarming rate" with its weapons program.

Pompeo said he could not get into specifics but said that North Korea's progress has gone on for decades.

The top USA military officer, Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, is travelling in Asia and expected to meet with leaders in South Korea, Japan and China. China is the North's biggest economic partner and source of aid, but says it alone can't compel its wayward ally to end its nuclear and missile programs.

Both sides have used hostile rhetoric, with President Donald Trump threatening "fire and fury" on the North.

Washington believes that India can play a major role in helping the leaders of Pyongyang to understand the seriousness and by defusing the tension between United state and North Korea.

North Korea announced on Thursday plans to fire missiles near the US Pacific territory of Guam, even though there was no indication an attack is imminent.

But he rejected talk of the USA being on the "cusp of nuclear war". This missile is ranged at the largest part of the U.S which raise the tension between the two countries.

New UN sanctions condemning North Korea's rapidly developing nuclear program drew fresh ire and threats from the North. Trump, responding to a report that USA intelligence indicates Pyongyang can now put a nuclear warhead on its long-range missiles, vowed to rain down "fire and fury" if challenged.

Rodong Sinmun, North Korea's official newspaper, said the volunteers had offered to join or rejoin the People's Army after the Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) issued a statement on Monday condemning new sanctions imposed by the United Nations in retaliation for North Korean missile tests.

Pompeo and Graham were on "Fox News Sunday", and McMaster appeared on ABC's "This Week".
