Bruno Mars to donate $1 million towards Flint water crisis relief

Grammy-Award Winning Artist Bruno Mars Announces $1 Million In Aid For Flint During Show

ABC News reports that the hefty donation will come out of revenue from Saturday's sold-out show at The Palace of Auburn Hills as part of Mars' 24K Magic World Tour.

Mars also issued a statement thanking the MI fans for supporting the cause.

'Ongoing challenges remain years later for Flint residents, and it's important that we don't forget our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster'.

"God bless you MI!"

12, 2017, Mars told the crowd at his 24K Magic World Tour concert at Palace of Auburn Hills in MI that he and Live Nation, the show's promoter, were sending the profits earned from the night's ticket sales to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, benefiting the victims of the Flint water crisis.

All the proceeds from the Detroit show will go directly to The Community Foundation of Greater Flint to help those affected.

Mars, who was born and raised in Hawaii, is now travelling across the United States for his 24K Magic World Tour. That decision pumped high concentrations of lead through aging pipes into the water of the homes of mostly poor, black residents and caused an outbreak of Legionnaires disease that has claimed the lives of at least 12 people.

Flint has been dealing with lead issues in their water since a controversial 2014 switch from the Detroit water system.

"With a grateful heart, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint is honored to accept this inspiring donation", Oliver said.

Families continue to face the physical, developmental and psychological effects of the lead poisoning, especially among the children of Flint. Beyoncé, Big Sean, Diddy, Eminem, and Wiz Khalifa are among other celebrities who have donated money and/or water to the victims of the crisis.
