12 August 2017, 02:13 | Jodi Jackson
Skoda Kodiaq SUV, Octavia RS, Rapid Monte Carlo to be unveiled in India
The vehicle has the latest generation of the Skoda infotainment systems and the variety of driver assistance systems. It was reported that the Skoda Kodiaq SUV will be Skoda's first 7-seater SUV in India. The SUV Kodiaq was first unveiled in Berlin past year and since then the SUV has become one of the most anticipated SUVs in India.
The Octavia might not have been Skoda's first launch under the Volkswagen Group, but as the first to dip into its new owner's parts bin, it's been a vital part of the brand's transformation since. The styling is based on the Skoda Vision S concept.
The Indian launch is expected to come with 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine mated 7-speed DSG transmission. Skoda is likely to launch the Karoq in 2018 in the country. It was reported that the petrol, as well as the diesel version of the Skoda Kodiaq SUV, will be only available in a 7-speed DSG (Direct-shift gearbox) option and there would be no manual transmission option available in the Skoda Kodiaq SUV. Regarding specifications, the new Skoda Kodiaq will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine. The 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will produce 177 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm. The auto looks quite similar to the standard vehicle but gets unique and sportier alloy wheels with much bigger tyres.
Inside, the Octavia RS comes with ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, paddle shifters, traction control and a touchscreen infotainment system. Skoda will launch the new Octavia RS by next month and the Kodiaq is expected to arrive in the Indian market by Q4. A new flat-bottom steering wheel and metal finished pedals will add sportiness inside.
Come September 2017 and Skoda India will rekindle the magic of the old Octavia vRS with its modern day equivalent - the latest-gen Octavia vRS.
The cars will be manufactured in Maharashtra in the company's Aurangabad facility. Watch this space for more updates.
