Formular 019: No chance for any mistakes, Mark warns the PDP

PDP convention: We cannot afford another mistake —Mark

Describing the PDP's travails as "baptism of fire", Okowa said that the party had survived was a testimony to the resilience of its grassroots structure, organisation and appeal.

Ahmed Makarfi, caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says Nigerians will have enough cash in their pockets after "working hard to sack" the All Progressives Congress in 2019.

The Olafeso faction is politically headed by the Chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; while the Ogundipe faction has Senator Buruji Kashimu as its political leader.

"While in the party I paid my dues to its fullest until I retired from partisan politics in 2015".

He recalled that in the party at that time, internal democracy took a backstage, aggrieved party members were disregarded and impunity became the order of the day at various leadership levels in the party.

"Another review committee was also set up to study the report of the constitution review committee and make recommendations".

The Meeting was well attended and presided over by the National Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, CON, and has the former Senate President, Senator David Mark, GCON, former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen.

He said: "We just came to see what is on ground. We know Nigerians are missing us and we would always carry them along when we return in 2019".

Okowa assured the party that high profile Nigerians will join the party within the next three weeks, stressing: "This is a new PDP and with the excitement we saw after the supreme court victory amongst Nigerians and not only PDP followers, I believe that a lot of people who thought that the party was going to implode by itself will realise that we are back alive and ready to offer what it takes to better the lives of Nigerians".

He said that the loss of presidential election and the gale of defections were enough to sink the party's ship, but expressed delight that the party had overcome the challenges.

According to the lawmaker, this is a new era for the country's political journey.

In the statement endorsed by his Media aide, Paul Mumeh, Mark said asked the delegates to ensure peaceful conduct adding that only a good outing can further unite the party and give all faithful a sense of belonging. We are leaving no stone unturned in doing that. "Those who are decamping from PDP to APC are fair-weather friends of the party".
