Middlesbrough Completes Lewis Baker Loan Signing

The Northern Echo WANTED Middlesbrough's Marten de Roon

Baker may be allowed out on loan by Chelsea this season, and Birmingham and Boro are both keen to give him a new home.

Despite their season opener defeat to Wolves, Middlesbrough will look to perform impressively this term and return back to the Premier League as soon as possible. "Hopefully we can do that together". "I think in this game there is always high pressure and big things expected".

"We'll see where that will get to within the coming days".

"I already know what the Championship is about".

While former Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons loanee Baker was initially expected to depart for another two years after spending a couple of seasons with Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem, Chelsea revealed that the England Under-21 worldwide has moved to the Riverside Stadium on a season-long deal.

Since signing with Chelsea in 2014, Baker has been sent out on loan multiple times.

If Baker was to move to Boro he would be another notable addition for Garry Monk's side. He was said to have traveled and trained with the first-team for the duration of their pre-season tours in light of the ongoing midfield depth crisis, but strangely enough, never played in midfield during his minimal cameos.

Atalanta finished fourth in Serie A under Gian Piero Gasperini last season - above Inter Milan, AC Milan and Lazio - to qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.

Atalanta have resigned Dutch midfielder Marten de Roon from Middlesbrough for a fee of €13.5 million excluding bonuses.

Darren Randolph, Ashley Fletcher, Martin Braithwaite, Cyrus Christie and Jonny Howson have also joined the Teessiders this summer.

He wants the Blues to sign several more experienced players during the transfer window to help the Premier League champions compete on all fronts next season.
