Chief among the changes is the new signature diamond pentagon grille design which is incorporated into a new front clip that features a more sculpted hood surface.
The 2018 Acura RLX will make its public debut during the prestigious Monterey Automotive Week, August 15-19 on the Monterey peninsula, and will be available to purchase in November.
Inside, the 2018 RLX gets a redesign as well with upgraded materials through, new seats with high-contrast detailing and a new Espresso color option (not pictured). The 2018 Acura RLX is much bolder, with a diamond-shaped grille beset with a subtle internal diamond pattern to its mesh.
For 2018, the RLX will be available in two flavors.
Acura has unveiled the updated 2018 RLX, which has noticeably undergone a complete styling makeover. Inside, there's a new seat design.
As before, the RLX is offered with the brand's Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (Sport Hybrid SH-AWD) technology, which combines a direct-injected 3.5 litre V6, lithium-ion battery, seven-speed DCT automatic transmission and three electric motors.
The Acura RLX debuted during the 2014 model year as the spiritual successor to the brand's beloved Legend sedan. This model now gets a 10-speed automatic transmission that Acura says improves acceleration and passing performance.
Finally, two new premium paint offerings have been added to the color palette: Brilliant Red Metallic and Majestic Black Pearl.
Standard features on the 2018 RLX Sport Hybrid include premium Krell Audio System, Surround View Camera, parking sensors, LED fog lights, remote engine start, ventilated and heated front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel and more.
Every RLX will come with the AcuraWatch suite of active safety features.
Acura cites a total system output of 377 hp and 462 Nm, which is identical to before, but it claims the RLX's powertrain and dynamic handling have been further optimised based on developments from the NSX. It keeps you in your lane and at a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you theoretically making traffic jams less stressful. A new addition to AcuraWatch is traffic jam assist which is a sort of modification to adaptive cruise control specifically for congested traffic. Working together with the adaptive cruise control with Low Follow, the Traffic Jam Assist helps in keeping the vehicle in its lane and a set interval behind the auto ahead in highly congested traffic situations.
