EVO Japan 2018 Features Tekken 7, ARMS, But Not Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite
The long-awaited Evo Japan lineup has finally been revealed.
Let us know in the comments if you're excited to watch some of the top fighting game players compete next January, and if you're happy with the current game line-up for Evo Japan 2018! The event will take place January 26-28 in Tokyo.
The lineup certainly reflects the event's location.
Surprisingly, there is no Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and Super Smash Bros.
As tweeted out by the official EVO Japan Twitter account, you can expect to see the EVO Japan 2018 Championship Series get underway between January 26th, 2018 and January 28th, 2018 over the weekend. While many would've thought that Arc System Works' new announcement would be the icing on the cake at this year's tournament, Wavedash Games have broken through with the reveal of their new game Icons: Combat Arena.
Aptly named Wavedash Games showed off their new platform fighter Icons: Battle Arena at EVO earlier today. The same can be said of Tekken hotbed South Korea. Organisers say they will be working closely with local fighting game communities and tournaments like Topanga and Godsgarden to ensure the event is a success. EVO Japan was originally announced in 2010, but the Tohoku natural disaster in March 2011, occurring shortly before the event in May 2011, led to it being indefinitely postponed until the dates were set for this event in January.
The official trailer for EVO Japan in 2018 has released, airing during the grand finals that was also broadcast on ESPN 2.
