Security forces on Monday reportedly killed three unidentified militants in an encounter in Anantnag district of Kashmir, news agency PTI quoted defence officials as saying.

In thsi joint operation of the security forces, the Army, Paramilitary forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police worked together.

He added that three militants were killed in the ensuing gunbattle.

Director General of the Jammu and Kashmir Police SP Vaid said the militants had been killed in a "chance encounter" with a joint team of security forces. Their identities are being ascertained.

The three slain terrorists, all belonging to terrorist group Lashkar-e-taiba (LeT) were identified as Shaukat Louhar, Mudassir and Zibran.One AK-47, one SLR and one pistol was seized by them.

Initially reports arrived about gunshots being heard in Anatnag's Bulbul Nowgam and Brakpora areas and it was only later that the encounter was ascertained.

Earlier in the day, the Indian Army had received the input that there were 4 terrorists hiding in a house. "We retaliated and a man was injured in the incident", he said.
