Chennai: Actor Kamal Haasan, who accidentally disclosed the name of the actress who was subjected to a sexual assault near Angamaly in February, stood his ground on Saturday. When questioned regarding the actor's statements, he launched a tirade demanding that Kamal Haasan submit proof to back his allegations against the Government. In fact, he was one of the few actors who spoke about the mismanagement during the 2015 rains which nearly sank Chennai.
Justifying the reality show by stating that there was nothing objectionable against Tamil culture, Kamal, while intrer-acting with the media, had alleged that the Tamil Nadu government was steeped in corruption.
Now Nanjil Sampath, a member of the AIADMK party has also joined the chorus of support for Kamal Haasan. He also said that the actor had no big projects in hand and would do anything for cheap publicity. Making personal attacks on the actor, on Sunday, some party leaders called him a "third-rate actor". "He had an affair with an actress, didn't marry her and chased her away which is against Tamil and Indian culture. He has no right to speak about us or the people of this country", Deecan Chronicle quotes CV Shanmugam as saying without taking Gauthami's name.
Speaking to the reporters at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after meeting victims of an accident, which happened on Friday night, Minister Velumani condemned actor Kamal Hassan for his speech. In fact many in the state, see the ministers' outburst as only depicting their insecurity.
