The actors were given away the prestigious IIFA Awards for their brilliant performance in "Udta Punjab".

Except this Bollywood on-screen character Saif Ali Khan and film maker executive Karan Johar hosted the event.

Three-days celebration of Indian cinema, the 18th edition of the International Film Academy Awards, was held in NY from July 13 to July 15.

Singers Tulsi Kumar and Kanika Kapoor bagged the IIFA awards for the best female playback singer.

Alia Bhatt, who had two nods this time, won the Best Actress award for Udta Punjab, outperforming Sonam Kapoor in Neerja, Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Taapsee Pannu in Pink. In addition to all the previous awards it won this year, Neerja won the biggest award of the night, Best Film award.

The award for Best Music Direction went to Pritam while Varun Dhawan won the award for Best Actor In Comic Role.

Sushant Singh Rajput, who was hoping to bag the Best Actor award for MS Dhoni: The Untold Story was not particularly happy with Shahid's win.

Meanwhile, Amit Mishra walked away with the Best Playback Singer (Male) award for the song "Bulleya" of the movie 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. However, it was not all smooth-sailing for the duo as the audience booed at them several times during the show at the jam-packed MetLife stadium. There is no denying that the actor is deeply in love with his life and the way he treated her at the event was another proof of it.

Undeniably, Shahid played his role to the perfection and was highly praised for it too.

He treated fans by performing on hit numbers from '90s movie "Judwaa" like "Oonchi hai building" and "Tan tana tan", which are being recreated for his upcoming film "Judwaa 2".

Raabta actors Sushant and Kriti performed on retro tracks, while Varun paid a tribute to his father David Dhawan by grooving to his chartbusters.

The stars assembled at NY to join in the celebrations.
